Members noted the importance of children in early work on a Stoney law:
“Whereas the continued existence and integrity of the Stoney Indian Nation is considered to be directly related to providing a wholesome environment in which Stoney children may be nurtured into responsible adults, and
“Whereas the unwritten customary Law of the Stoney Indians addresses the need for a healthy nurturing environment for growing children and young people; …”
